Police have urged Fairlie residents to remain vigilant after jewellery was seized by a thief from one village property.

On Thursday 1 February, an address in Castlepark Drive, was broken into during the day and a quantity of jewellery stolen. Attempts were made on two further nearby addresses.

Inspector Colin Convery, Largs Locality Policing Team said " This incident has been very upsetting to the householders concerned and I would appeal to members of the public who may have seen anyone behaving suspiciously in the area to contact my team. What might otherwise seem a trivial piece of information could be very valuable as part of our investigation."

"I have deployed additional officers into the area. In addition we are supported by our colleagues in CID and Forensic Services"

"Anyone with any information should contact Police Scotland on 101"
