A road safety chief is to visit Fairlie on Monday to discuss ongoing concerns on the A78.

George Henry from Transport Scotland will attend a meeting of Fairlie Safer Roads group.

Since the group set up in June, the pressure group have been hoping to bring Transport Scotland to the village to discuss safety issues in the village, and is something of a breakthrough, following positive talks with Cunninghame North MSP Kenneth Gibson.

This comes following North Ayrshire Council’s ruling administration having agreed to work closely on road safety issues with the Fairlie Safer Roads Group.

As reported in the ‘News’, the group recently appeared before the council’s petitions committee where they outlined their case.

A report was then submitted to the council’s Cabinet for a decision. They agreed to support the group in their attempt to secure a 20mph limit through the village of Fairlie by formally writing to Transport Minister, Keith Brown and by arranging a meeting between the local group, Transport Scotland and roads officers of the council.
