Experience the great outdoors, including fun for all the family, at the eagerly anticipated Largs Agricultural Show which takes place on Saturday 13 June.

The traditional show will be held at Ardgowan Polices in Inverkip, courtesy of Sir Ludovic Shaw Stewart.

Indeed, it is one of the longest running events historically in the area, and has been ongoing for many years, with reports of its early years appearing in the archive editions of the Largs and Millport News going back to the 1880s.

But it is thoroughly modern nowadays in comparision. So much so, that for the first time this year, the show even entered the digial age, and has its own website!

Saturday’s showcase will include cows, sheep, horses, driven ponies, highland ponies, and dogs on display and the committee are hoping for some sunshine to bring in the crowds.

There will be a light horse section with a variety of classes. If you require a schedule, please visit the website www.largsshow.co.uk or email sandrasutherland@virginmedia.com President William Menzies and his committee are very grateful to the sponsors without whose assistance the show would simply not survive.

In common with similar sized events it runs at a loss and sponsor donations plus subsidy from the society’s other events are the only way that the books can be balanced.

There will be classes for driven ponies with traps. The riders appear in a range of outfits and make for a most attractive addition ot the show ring.

The ver popular dog show is held under the auspices of the Scottish Kennel Club as a companion show.

There will be children’s entertainment, including bouncy castle and races etc.

Secretary Sandra Sutherland said: “As always, the show is a great day out for anyone with an interest in the countryside or indeed anyone who enjoys a family day in the great outdoors.” She added: “Our thanks to Fiona Neilson who has set up our website and to Glasgow Airport for their sponsorship.” Programme: Ladies Section – Cake & Candy, Hamper Raffle Gift Stall 9.00am Showing & Show Jumping 10.00am Judging commences (Blackface Sheep) 10.00am Judging commences (Cattle & Horses) 12.30pm approx Champion of Champion to be judged 12.30pm approx Driven Pony Classes 1.00pm Dog Judging commences 2.00pm Parade of Champions followed by Prizegiving Entertainment events – children’s races etc Raffle Drawn after children’s games Show Umpire: Ian Craig
