Nativity Service

Inverkip Church young folk held a Nativity Service in the Church Hall on Sunday 20 December. A lot of preparation had gone into the event and the service was led by the Rev Liz Geddes. The children all played a part, some doubling up in roles and a duet by Abigail Cameron and Ruaraidh McBain who were acting as narrators was well received.

Community Council

Reading the minutes of Inverkip and Wemyss Bay Community Council meeting in October it seems that the problem of the water on the road by the A78 that Scottish Power are pursuing contractors to provide quotes and Network Rail continue to investigate the problem. This has been a problem for nearly two years and when first contacted the roads department were not sure who was responsible for the fact that water was running over the A78 and liable to freezing, which it did earlier this month.

Culvert Problem

The culvert on Spey Road continues to cause problems with flooding and a form of gate is to be installed to prevent vegetation from blocking it.

Know your Inverkip

Folk who have lived in Inverkip for many years when asked where the Lairds Dyke is will point you in the direction of the Ardgowan Shore. Stewart Milne, builders of the houses has named a street in their estate above Inverkip as Lairds Dyke! The area has had a play park installed but it appears trees were felled to accommodate this; the trees are to be reinstated. Traffic calming measures are to be installed. It is hoped that a representative from the builders will attend the next community council meeting.

Community Centre

Work progresses at the Community Centre with a target completion date being November 2016. Questions are being asked whether Wemyss Bay can retain a library when one opens at the Centre, this is under consideration.
