It is a major step forward for the new Clyde Coast and Garnock Valley crematorium as construction gets underway on the new facility this week, and is planned to open in April 2018.
The state-of-the-art crematorium is located on a 10-acre site next to the Kelburn wind farm entrance on the A760 between Largs and Kilbirnie.
Created to help local families when care and support is most needed, the 160-seat crematorium will be housed within a bright, modern building, in a rural style including a number of important design innovations, which local people and stakeholders said were important to them during the extensive consultation.
These include a large, open-plan and welcoming internal reception area, with capacity for up to 90-people, bringing the total internal capacity to at least 250-people.

Largs and Millport Weekly News:
The reception also ensures full disabled access, well-appointed WC facilities, alongside providing comfort and shelter for families and friends - pre and post service.
The large internal reception area is also designed to provide extra capacity with the ceremony hall connected to the reception area via digital audio and LED screens.
Encrypted web-enabled technology will also allow those unable to attend a service, the ability of viewing proceedings securely online.
Jim Hamilton, Chairman of the Clyde Coast and Garnock Valley Crematorium said:“We have spent a great deal of time planning the construction of the new facility, working closely with a range of important stakeholders and partners.
“We are also very grateful to Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park for their crucial support during the planning phase, Royal Bank of Scotland for their financial support and backing, North Ayrshire Council planning and building standards, local funeral directors and David Boyle and Lord Glasgow from Kelburn Estate.”
Ian Barclay from official contractors Luddon Construction Limited said: “As work gets underway and throughout the construction period we will make every effort to minimise or avoid disruption to the local community, while at the same time keeping them up to date with the construction plans and developments.”
