Largs Community Resilience Team has been awarded £400 for new I.D badges to help them in emergency situations.

The award came from the Magnox Socio-Economic Scheme, which originates from Hunterston 'A' nuclear site which is in the process of being decomissioned.

New identity badges go to over 60 volunteer members who are ready to be called out to an emergency.

Sean Marshall, Magnox Limited Socio-Economic Officer for Scottish Sites, went along to Largs recently to hand over the badges to some of the volunteers.

Magnox is committed to providing socio-economic support and enabling sustainability in its local communities. This work is supported by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, which provides socio-economic funding through the contract with Magnox Ltd.

James Bertram, Co-ordinator for the resilience volunteers said: “The support that we get from Magnox is invaluable and contributes in various ways, allowing us to respond to emergency situations. Our new ID badges will instantly identify team members to members of the public and that’s very important. People need to know who they are talking to when someone comes to their property in flooding or any other emergency. Without the support of Magnox, voluntary services like us would not be able to provide the support that we do.”
