Excitement is mounting as well over 50 head-turning vehicles head to Largs this weekend's Classic Car Festival. The show starts at midday on Sunday.
With an amazing array of vehicles from older cars to modern classics including Dolomite Spirit, direct from the Moffat Rally to an Austin Healy A30, Beetles, Stag’s, Morris Minor’s and more. There’s even an Invacar and for the first time this year some classic trikes too!
The Scottish Fire and Heritage Service Rescue Trust will even be bringing along one of their vintage fire tenders.
The cars will be driving in from collectors, enthusiasts and car clubs from all over Scotland to be displayed undercover in a massive marquee on the Promenade.
John Hamilton, The Explore Largs BID Manager and co-organiser of the event with Yvonne Prager, Largs Street Ambassador, said: “With Daimlers, Porches, Minis and even a Vintage Taxi; there will be something for every kind of car lover at this year’s festival.”
“Whether you’re a petrol head with the love of all things motorised, to someone just wanting to rekindle some motoring memories, we will have it all under cover here in Largs.
“The drivers will also be on hand to answer any questions visitors to the Festival may have. It’s a great way to share your motoring history with all the generations of your family.
“Last year we had a lot of grandparents showing their amazed grandchildren the cars they first drove back in their hay-day; a really touching and precious thing to see.”
In addition to the myriad of motors in the marquee, the festival boasts a whole host of family fun.
Like the Food Festival staged earlier in the year, there will once again be a music tent, complete with bar, seating area with tables and chairs plus live bands.
Children will have their own entertainment too, so not only do they get in for free with a paying accompanying adult, they also have free face painting from the hugely popular and talented Face Painting Fairies and their own ‘Drive-a-long, Sing-a-long’ shows performed by The McDougall’s, of Scotch Broth Productions who are firm favourites throughout Scotland.
Admission is £3 for adults and children go free as long as they are accompanied by a paying adult.
And, after you have been to the Classic Car Festival why not take in all the sights, sounds, shops and seaside fun Largs has to offer. Go on, remember, rediscover and Explore Largs.
