A LARGS business is raising a glass, after receiving permission to sell its artisan drinks online.

Geraldo’s will now be able to expand on to the online market after months of waiting.

Due to the lack of space in the shop, the variety of products has been limited, however this new venture will allow them to stock more producers through an online shop.

Geraldo’s owner, Toni Dawson, said: “This is really the icing on the cake after a successful event with the drink festival.

"This new development for Geraldo’s is very exciting and I can’t wait to get it up and running.”

“We have had the website ready since November last year, however we were told that we couldn’t sell the products online, so to have finally received licensing from the board is really great for us.

“We hope to roll it out as quickly as possible.

“For me as a retailer it has been so difficult for the last quarter because we have all been hugely hit by bad weather, which just drives more and more people to shop online.

“Especially when tourists come and buy the drinks as a novelty, then go away and find they have to go to our competitors to get them because we don’t stock them online.

“Plus, we have had a lot of interest from producers that have been eagerly waiting for the outcome of the licensing board because they are wanting to be stocked by us, so this will give us the opportunity to do that.

She added: “We will be responsible for ensuring all checks are made at the point of sale online, but due diligence then lies with the courier we use to ensure that alcohol is not left with anyone underage or left in a ‘safe place’.

“This is the same practice carried out by online retailers and couriers across the country.”
