Look Who visited Largs and Millport!

Who would believe it? Former timelord David Tennant landed in Largs this week.
He might have had the whole of the time and space cosmos to choose from but former Doctor Who star David Tennant materialised in the local area this week to visit some cafes and enjoy an ice cream by the seaside.
Obviously in a bid to put the Daleks and Cybermen off his trail, the 39 year old actor swapped the Tardis for the Cal Mac ferry as he ventured over to Millport for a few hours with his blonde actress girlfriend.
The Scottish celebrity was filming a new movie "The Decoy Wife" in Kilbirnie during the past week but decided to venture to the seaside and have a nostalgic trip to the Isle of Cumbrae where his father is believed to have once owned a house.
The 'Casanova' actor was first spotted at Nardini at the Moorings on Largs seafront on Saturday shortly after midday and was served by 21 year old waitress Simone Simpson from West Kilbride.
She said: "He just walked in and was really nice. He just asked for a coffee and an Appeltize. He kept himself quiet, and blew me a kiss. He was dressed very smartly. I would quite happily have been whisked away in his Tardis!"
His next port of call was a visit to the Ritz Cafe in Millport after going on a relaxing walkabout on the Isle of Cumbrae by the harbour.
Did you see the famous timelord? If so, log in and tell us below...
Have your say. .

I don't think he was with his girlfriend, think he was with one of the actresses from the film he's shooting. I saw them on the ferry and didn't think she looked like his girlfriend, assuming he's still dating that girl who played his daughter.

Don. Was she tiny with long hair? If she was it was probably his girlfriend as she is small and he never seems to be without her. Lucky you spotting him!

She was blonde and not tall. I don't know. It might have been her. I've only seen her in the Doctor Who episode she was in.

" Lucky you spotting him"
Jeez you make him sound like a Golden Eagle. Seriously, the poor guy was just grabbing a coffee and eating ice cream, this really isn't news.
Oh and 'Joan', how on earth would you know whether or not he is ever without his girlfriend?
Unless you are physically stalking him, you don't have a clue.
Quite a strange thing to say from you actually.

That description could fit any number of women. The actress playing his fiancee is a shortish blonde woman, so are some of the other women on the film. His niece iirc is a short blonde woman. What does it matter if his girlfriend was with him or not? They aren't seen together very often at all. It probably was her but I don't know why it's a big deal if it wasn't. David seems like a decent guy and having drinks in a cafe with a woman hardly implies he's cheating.

At least this is a positive article, but is it really newsworthy that he spent free time in Millport, bought a coffee in a cafe and behaved completely normal?
... The movie he was/is filming is called 'Decoy Bride', not 'The Decoy Wife', by the way.

*Rolls eyes*
You aren't the writer of this article by any chance are you Gill? It would seem if not, you both have the same quota of a grip on reality. He is not the Doctor. He's a normal guy who happens to be an actor. He's not a commodity, he's a person with feelings and when I hear about him being gawped at, harassed, approached constantly, it makes me sad for him. He's a nice, decent man who wants to go and do normal everyday things, the same as the rest of us. The endless stories of his kindness and tolerance of people encroaching on his personal space are touching and and a testament to his lovely nature, but unfortunately, it seems that people take advantage of his rare and delightful warmth. It's a shame.
How he hasn't gone nuts by now, I really don't know... because that level of intrusion and scrutiny would have pushed me over the edge long, long ago.

I was wondering if this would pop up any where. I was minding my own business the other week up along near the news shop and there appeared the doc with his companion eating ice cream! I thought I'd stepped into an episode of the show :) they spend a while walking up and down the sea and were holding and hands and kissing like a young couple should despite the cold wind. Was too embarrassed to ask for a pic and didn't want to intrude. Exciting day for me to see him.

Yep. Course you did Pam. Goodness me. I live on the Island and there was no cold wind over the weekend. That's one of many reasons why I know you are, for some reason best known to yourself, lying. Another of which (and probably more importantly) being the fact that I was in Ritz's Cafe while he was there, behind him in the queue in fact and happened to leave the same time as him. Seriously, Luisa is right. What is wrong with some of you people?
In fact, 'Pam' you probably don't live anywhere near our Island... and thank God too.

If they were walking up and down the sea then there would be a wind, whether it was a cold one or not. It would still be breezy by the sea if there wasn't wind all day on the mainland.

Poppy I live on the island and there was indeed a substantial wind that day so I suggest that it's you who is making things up. Oh and interesting that you saw them the one place that was mentioned in this article but that's just coincidence I suppose? I'm thrilled he came here but alas I missed it :(

Wow. This has really brought the nutters out hasn't it. I must say it's the first time I've had to defend myself on the Millport news site, but still..first time for everything I guess.
Laura, I have a sneaking suspicion that you may be Pam. Worrying but true.
Thanks for the weather synopsis but I can assure you my short term memory is in sufficient health to know that it was very warm on Saturday, breezy...of course, but not cold in any way shape or form. Laura or whoever you are, it is pretty clear that you don't in fact live in Millport (wow, we've never been so popular), but I will humour you if I must. Sorry if my encounter was too generic for you. Many apologies, I should make more an effort to name somewhere that was not mentioned in the article. Perhaps I should have said I saw him in the crocodile chippy? Would that have convinced you? Sweet Jesus.
I don't have much of an interest in the guy to be honest, he seems amiable (was very polite to the staff at Ritz) enough but Doctor Who is not my thing. But when looking on the site, I couldn't help but reply to someone who for some bizarre reason has made up a sequence of events that just did not happen. This has given me a scary glimpse into what these celebrities have to put up with and it's awful. If anything, he looked highly uncomfortable at all the gimps who were openly staring at him as if he were an exhibit in the zoo. Hardly going to indulge in PDA's when he feels like that is he? Honestly, listen to yourselves, what is wrong with you?
Why concoct events and sightings in your heads? Does it suit your fantasies? Are you hoping one day *you* will be his girlfriend? Weird, so very, very weird.
'Thrilled he came here'. eh? Please, please go away and stop associating yourselves with our town. You hopefully live as far away as possible, but dear fruitcakes, it seems obvious you're not from here. And lucky for him you're not. I know we're quiet here, but to have people talk about a regular guy getting the ferry here from Glasgow for a walk around as if it's an audience with the Pope, is chilling to the max.

Niemand - I think you reading things slightly differently here. Why do you think there is a conspiracy against his girlfriend? I can't see any evidence of that at all. All I can see is a bunch of people desperate to know what he's doing and who he's doing it with at all times. Wouldn't want to be in his shoes.

If you look at some of the David Tennant fan forums this is an old argument. There is a hardcore group of fans who despise DT's girlfriend and always try to find reason to believe they are not together or that they are heading for a breakup. They write really nasty things about her. There is another equally hardcore group of fans who are obsessed with 'shipping' them and proving how serious and in love they are. Anytime DT is spotted anywhere they will quiz anyone who saw him or attended the same event on whether his girlfriend was there, and come up with crazy stuff to prove she was (like if he's seen with a tall brunette, they'll post she must have dyed her hair and been wearing heels). Both sides are pretty bad and all this for two people so private no one knows anything about them or their relationship, if they are indeed in a relationship. The majority of DT fans are not like that and actually do respect his privacy. I'm really looking foward to the Decoy Bride movie and I hope DT had a very peaceful and enjoyable visit to the island whomever he was with.

Erm, OK. As loathed as I am to return to this... I think the prize for the most insane post has to go to you: 'Lolololol'. ..An ironic name when you consider it is *me* you are suggesting is nuts.
I think we've already established there are some 'colourful' types posting here but I'm not sure how you can arrive at that when it is me who pointed out that a complete fruitcake has decided to completely fabricate an encounter with a celebrity. So, no dear, the terrifying thing is the fact that you are most likely posting under different names (Pam?) because why else would you direct such an embarrasingly thing to say at me? No, it doesn't take too long to work it out.
I wonder how many of you actually check out the Millport news any other time? Honestly , just go away.
Help? Of the psychiatric kind? ... Get it and quick...
Seriously, if you are the kind of people that David Tennant has to contend with, I really hope he doesn't visit here too often, as one day, some of you might just follow him.

It's not really that mental is it? It's only the internet. But perhaps a lesson to take away from this is when people report their 'sightings' online, maybe you shouldn't take them at face value.
Anyone can write anything they want on the web, that's it's curse. And I have seen the ugly and disturbed side of fandom, so I know it's possible. There's something fairly suspicious about Pam and co. though, I must say.

Huh? What a very strange post: lol..etc. Why would you say Poppy is a nutcase? Kinda stupid of you. There are a few people that are terrifying definitely, who have contributed to this, but Poppy is clearly not one of them. In fact she seems to be the only one speaking with reason and not harbouring an unhealthy obsession with DT.
I'm about as far away from Millport as any of you, as I'm in Portland, Oregon US, but I can see that many people seem to thoughtlessly throw comments around and stir things up. It's a shame for the guy if he can't go about his everyday business without such nonsense arising from it. Thanks God he has the class, dignity and intelligence to not go near the internet.

Don't go spreading this around but I've heard, from a very reliable source, that The Doctor was in Millport looking for Osamma Bin Laden who is known to have been lurking around the top of the island ( behind the Glaidstane ) heavily disguised as a Dalek.
Keep this quiet as we don't want the CIA crawling all over the island.

Wow, everyone really needs to get a grip here. First, if anyone thinks that a star of DT's caliber visiting a small town is not news for that town, then they have been living under a rock somewhere. (I live in a city of more than a million people, and if a celebrity is here, you can be sure it at least rates a mention somewhere in the paper!)
Second, as the article was printed several days AFTER the event, I hardly think it indicates that this was harrassment or hounding of the poor man. Indeed, it seems that people were respectful and left him alone for the most part. Did not see mention anywhere of papparazzi chasing him down.
Third, of course people will speculate on whether that person was the GF or not. Who's dating which person makes up 99% of the magazine articles printed anywhere. However, this article is not where the speculation arose, but with individuals commenting.

Goodness me, this is just ridiculously mental now. Honestly, what is wrong with you?
For a start, how am I claiming the same as Pam?
Secondly, why are you treating this as a conspired attempt by me to gain belief over what I am saying? Do you think I am going to lose any sleep if you don't 'believe me'.
Because if you do, then that is worrying, seriously worrying. There isn't a dispute over whether the guy was seen starting fire with his bare hands or walking on water. I thought it was pretty freaky that this 'Pam' had invented this scenario and thought I'd set the record straight, as it struck me as more than a little odd to embellish and basically lie about seeing this guy.
You don't want to believe that? Well you go ahead.. does it honestly and truly matter what he was doing? I just found it strange that this person would fabricate something that I know didn't happen. But whatever, it really doesn't make any odds to me, as the guy doesn't occupy my thoughts as he clearly does with some you of here.
I 'post on here a lot' because I visit this site a lot if you must know. A local source of info, which is usually uneventful...well until we were descended on by the crazies of course. Sort of makes me wish I hadn't bothered and long for the sleepy regularity of news we usually receive.
I'm presuming that the more mentally challenged amongst you will soon be leaving us when your idol is spotted elsewhere? I very much hope so.
Beth: Only someone with no perspective on life would give the precedence that you think is worthy to a celebrity in town. They're just regular people and to the grounded amongst us, who realise this and are not obsessed with fame, that is a given.
Seriously. People do not care. And I think it is you who need to get a grip if you think any differently. What world are we living in where we are conditioned to think it is 'news' when someone off the telly visits a town? Watch the real news.
And yes, newspaper reports are after the event, but that doesn't stop it being rather creepy and intrusive to have your moves relayed to papers and recorded for people to read?
And why have you come to the conclusion that people were respectful and left him alone? It's clear you weren't there. As I said, I don't believe those who were open mouthed staring at him blatantly were being overly respectful.

This is one of the most funniest posts i've ever seen, I thought Milport was quiet. I'm from paisley where DT was brought up and I'd be so chuffed if I seen him... I've seen Paulo a few times, once had to sit on a friend to stop her chasing him. I think this is a great claim to fame for the island, an even better excuse to visit with my Doctor Who daft son.
