Music promoter Tam Skinner, who was running the Victoria Hotel over the past 18 months, had managed to bring in established acts including top ten artists from the 1960s through to the 1980s including Spencer Davis, The Animals and Colin Hay from “Men at Work”.
Famous sports personality Ally McCoist was a regular visitor to the music venue. However, following licensing difficulties, Mr Skinner decided to close the venue with a final gig by emerging young musician Chantel McGregor.
Mr Skinner told the “News” that he was hoping to kick-start a campaign to try and buy “The Vic” and maintain it as a live entertainment venue on the town’s seafront.
