Campaigners against same sex marriage have staged a meeting in Largs with more than 30 supporters gathering at the Willowbank Hotel.

The event was organised for Scotland For Marriage, the umbrella group which is in the forefront of the campaign fighting plans to redefine the law.

Among those present was retired nurse and former Conservative councillor Elisabethe Marshall, who said: "The campaign is not just for people of faith. Christian or otherwise, and is certainly not homophobic. It is a means of objecting to a a proposal that would undermine the bedrock of our society."
