Police were searching this week for a missing man who is originally from the Largs/Fairlie area.

Alisdair McLeod, 28, is an assistant manager who works at Portavadie Marina restaurant, but has not been seen for around a week.

A police spokesman said: “The police have information which suggests that the missing man is alive and well." As we went to press, a message was sent to Portavadie to say Mr McLeod was alive.

An expensive Mariner engine was stolen from a vessel at Largs Yacht Haven. The equipment was not reported missing till this week, and it is believed it was stolen at some time during the early period of March.

A Kia vehicle was vandalised in Charles Street in Largs overnight between Sunday and Monday. There was damage to one side of the vehicle as police enquiries are continuing into the incident.

The windscreen of a Vauxhall car was smashed by vandals at 9.30pm on Friday 7 March in Largs Main Street. Police are appealing for information, and checking CCTV footage in Largs town centre.

In a bizarre theft from a garden in North Middleton Drive, Largs, a five foot garden bench was swiped overnight between Saturday and Sunday.

An 82 year old woman was charged in connection with driving without a license after she was stopped by police officers in Largs Main Street on Saturday 1 March at 2.30pm.

A 34 year old man has been reported for excessive speeding on the Shore Road at Skelmorlie at 9pm on Friday 7 March. The man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in relation to the incident.

There was a road accident near Kames Bay on the Isle of Cumbrae. A 28 year old motorist has been charged for failing to stop after an accident. A Saab motor vehicle sustained damage following a collision with a Vaxuhall motor vehicle. The driver of the Vauxhall car has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal. Nobody was injured in the accident.
