There is a bank machine fraud in Largs, the local newspaper reveals in its new edition.
The Largs & Millport Weekly News, out Wednesday, reports the fact that an ATM has been tampered with.
This follows much comment on Facebook and social media sites about local people losing money from their accounts.
On the 'News' Facebook Lesley Redden stated: "I can’t believe the police suggesting there isn’t a problem in Largs. Too many local cases to be coincidence. This has to be investigated. Also, don’t be fooled by the ‘cover your pin’ advice....it doesn’t make any difference. The thieves can still use swipe machines that don’t need chip and pin." Laura McKillop commented: "The thieves also falsify the pin entry pad so it takes note of your pin. Unless it’s cash back in a store or in your bank then I’d steer clear of any cash points".
