Police are following up a complaint of a frightening incident in a children’s playpark in Largs where a nine year old boy was burned with a cigarette by an older youth.

On a local Facebook site, the mother of the child said: “My sons age 9 and 5 were playing at Scott park (New Street), and the oldest got burned with a fag and the other wanted to leave but they wouldn’t let him!

“Two girls and some boys about 15 to 17 were present at the time - the boys have ginger hair colour. My son got hit, and they held him back because he wanted to go home” The matter has been reported to Largs Police who are investigating the matter.

A dogwalker has been charged with assault following an incident within the vincinity of a football park in Skelmorlie.

There was an alleged fracas in a park behind Innes Park Road in Skelmorlie at around 5pm on Saturday 12 July. A 33 year old man has been charged in connection with apparently spitting in the face of a 53 year old man, and trying to hit him with a dog lead, and attempting to punch him.

A wallet containing £100 was stolen from Shang Hai Chinese take-away in Boyd Street in Largs on Sunday 6 July. Police are investigating after a 46 year old complainer accidentally put the wallet down and left it unattended at the premises. He had put it down on the counter when the theft occurred.

A 32 year old man has been charged in connection with being unable to control his bulldog which attacked another dog - a highland terrier - outside Farmfoods in Boyd Street, Largs, at 4.55pm last Thursday. The man has been charged under the dangerous dogs act.

A 56 year old man from Greenoch has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with drink driving after his car was stopped in Irvine Road, Largs, outside the golf club at 10.15am on 13 July.
