Largs man John Burleigh - the owner of Burns Bunnets - encountered none other than Usain Bolt after Saturday night’s 4x100 relay race, and offered him one of his tartan tammy hats as a special prize for his incredible gold medal feat!

John, who helps co-ordinate the Gillian’s Saltire Appeal swim from Cumbrae to Largs every year, has now christened the hat ‘the Bolt Bunnet’, after pictures and tv pictures were beamed around the world of the sporting icon parading the distinctive ‘Tam O’Shanter’ style hats, and matching scarves.

Just a few months ago, John had the hats on parade during a St Mary’s Primary School coffee morning... and little did he know, just a few months later, he’d be showing them off to one of the world’s leading sportsmen!
