Concerns have been raised on Facebook about litter on the old Largs road in Brisbane Glen to Greenock by campers.

The matter was raised on the Clyde Muirshiel Facebook page.

They stated: “Unfortunately with the nicer weather and later nights, we see increased amounts of litter and campers leaving their mess behind them - this was just off the Old Largs Road last week, spoiling the scenery for those on the tourist route. Please be responsible when visiting the countryside, taking all litter home with you or use provided bins.” “We appreciate this is a small minority of visitors and are very thankful for those who visit, enjoy the Park and we don’t even know they have been! Responsible behaviour is very much valued and frees Ranger time to do more education and conservation - much more enjoyable tasks!” Gavin Ferguson said: “This is my nightmare - I take groups all over and we go daft making sure they leave nothing behind.” Esther Lunardi said: “Sadly this is an ever spreading problem. The beach north of Ardrossan to Seamill along the A78 is often littered quite badly after wild camping at weekends despite numerous litter bins on the car parks.

“Some people just don’t respect their beautiful surroundings and no education in the world will make them change as they just don’t care. They grow up chucking things where stand and bring up their kids in the same way, so it’s a never-ending cycle.” Largs woman Caroline Le Good Morgan said: “This is disgraceful- if the campers managed to bring this much stuff WITH them they have no excuse not to take it AWAY with them!”
