A MAN has been questioned by police after a local woman reported that he had threatened to rape her.

The lady who, of course, wishes to remain anonymous told the ‘News’ that the alleged threat was made by the man on Largs seafront in a confrontation over a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Largs Police have confirmed that a man was taken in for questioning about the claim but was later released.

The woman whose dog was apparently attacked by the Staffordshire Terrier said: “There has been trouble in the recent past about our dogs but I was shocked when he walked up to me and threatened to rape me because of it.

“He has terrified me. I was so scared that I contacted the police.” She alleged that the man was in charge of the terrier which has attacked seven other dogs, mostly on Largs promenade.

“Some of the regular dog walkers have discussed this. It is an accident waiting to happen. I have been told that the dog knocked over a 90 year old woman and attacked her daughter’s dog.” The woman has called upon other dog owners who recognise the terrier she is speaking of to report incidents to the police.

The ‘News’ believes that a case will go before the court in relation to the alleged attacks.
