Largs fire crews had to attend flash flooding in Brisbane Glen earlier this month.
A total of eight houses were affected after the Kilburn burst its banks at around midnight, resulting in Largs Fire Brigade and North Ayrshire Council roads department attending. Streets affected included Glen Grove, Glen Avenue and Raillies Avenue. The matter was also raised at the recent North Coast committee meeting during a report by Mark Gallagher, who is the area representative for Scottish Fire and Rescue.
Fire officer Peter Bowyer told the ‘News’: “It was pretty bad. We diverted the water with a bit of pumping. There were several folk that had to leave their houses, and there was some damage to properties including carpets, conservatories, and gardens.
“It was about two feet deep in places during a period of very heavy rain. We attended for a couple of hours, and manged to divert it.”
