One of the budget cuts to affect Largs is the end of the council's financial support for the Party at the Pencil.
Each year, there is a re-enactment of the Battle of Largs, followed by a bonfire and fireworks display.
However, in their budget announcement this week, the council have confirmed a proposal to save £8000.
The saving is small compared to many of the more significant cuts.
The loss of funding for the fireworks display comes after the town's Guy Fawkes firework celebrations almost failed to take place.
The removal of funding would come into effect in 2017/18.
Councillor Tom Marshall told the 'News' he believed another source could be found for financing the popular event, and suggested the seafront car park fund as a potential option to continue running the festival finale.
