LARGS Events are gearing up for their Family Fun weekend extravaganza at Broomfields in Largs over the weekend of 4 and 5 July.

The voluntary group are hosting a full range of children’s activities including a giant assault course, lazerquest, soft play area, various trade and craft stands, and fun for all ages.

Making a special appearance will be ‘The Drakes of Hazard’ on Saturday - it is a farmer from Loch Lomond who herds ducks over an assault course with his sheepdog - and is very popular and funny. There will also be a refreshments tent.

All the entertainment and activites will be based at the south prom, at the bottom of May Street, for the third year in succession.

Chairman of Largs events Ian Murdoch said: “it is an excellent event for all the family, and we are hoping to keep it fresh and different this year with a range of new events. We have a giant assault course which is 70 foot long, and we have a moonwalk inflatable castle. There is also going to be a 60ft by 60ft inflatable track - with Suzuki quadbikes, and much much more.” There will also be a live music stage on the Sunday of the event including performances from The Wherries, ceilidh band ‘Flung Aboot’, Largs band Crisis, and over both days there will be an open mike stage.
