I sit here reading your story about UFO sightings. Let me tell you what I saw.
On Christmas Eve, I was working in the Greenock area. About 9pm I was sitting in my work vehicle with two other workmates when we saw this bright orange light flying towards us. At first i thought it was a helicopter but as i looked closer i could not see any navigation lights or even hear any sound coming from it.
It was a bright clear night and there was not a sound and all that was in the sky was this bright light. It came from the Braeside area and headed over towards the cut and then it just disappeared.
The 3 of us just stood and looked at each other and asked what was that?
Then on Christmas night about 8pm, I saw a single bright orange light fly over Largs. I stood outside and watched the light again this was no plane as it was silent and after 30 seconds it disappeared. Then again around 9pm when returning home after having Christmas day with family in Largs, my wife and I again saw a bright orange light flying over Largs towards the seafront.
We drove down to the prom beside the Cal-Mac office and stopped the car and watched the orange light in the sky. It must have been about a thousand feet in the air, same as the night before.
At this point a further 2 orange lights appeared. They were much brighter as if they were on fire and followed in behind the first one but at lower height. Again there was no sound and they made there way over towards the ferry slip at Cumbrae they then disappeared.
Does anyone know what is happening about these sightings?

We saw a very similar object in Bath (UK) on Christmas day. Definitely not a Chinese lantern. It was traveling at a very high speed.
****For the record, we saw about 10-20 of those Chinese lantern flight in the sky at night in Bath, minutes after the year had changed. Report this comment

Myself, my daughter and my husband witnessed on Wednesday 6th January 2010 at approximately 19:50 two objects moving slowly, glowing orange almost red like they were on fire and completely silent. They were not planes, satellites or lanterns etc. they were unbelievably large and definately glowing I would say on fire/burning. However, my husband seen them first before calling us outside and he said it looked like a cluster of about five very large orange lights with a larger red light in the centre They did not flicker, nor did they show any strobe lights as required by civil aviation regulations; then one just went into the distance and disappeared and the other lingered before following it across Cuerden Valley Park towards Leyland. After the bells at New Year I also witnessed similar objects in the sky whilst standing on my balcony. This was over the North of Glasgow and it has been suggested to me that it could have been Chinese Lanterns. Whatever it was, it was a privelege to witness and would prefer to think of it as unexpalained!!!! Happy New Year to all in my home town of Largs. Glad to have the weekly news over the net!!! Stop it you Guys! If you can see UFOs every clear night with third generation night vision goggles, and you can, then the governemnt is lying to us about everything.
Night vision goggles allow you to see an average of 10 to fifty craft per hour just after dark. This is an indication of just how much visitation we are getting at this time in our history. With night vision goggles, we see flying saucers or discs, triangles, deltas, ovals, spheres, and many other shaapes, and lights.

My brother and I saw the same sightings on Christmas Day. We started to freak out because they were unfamiliar, however a friend told us that she saw them too, and that they were definently Chinese Lanterns. These same lanterns have been set off before at the Fairlie Gala. Report this comment

Ever thought it could be something to with the RAF? par example - jets flying over on silent mode on manouveres - I am assured by a friend who is a pilot that they are often mistaken for UFOs lol Report this comment

Just to set the record straight, No jet plane on earth has "silent mode", with a jet engine silence is impossible due to the laws of physics, However, Stealth aircraft have advanced propulsion technology that allows them to be very quiet on approach, though when directly overhead and passing by they are still noisy but quieter than normal jet aircraft Report this comment

i was putting my son to bed on sunday(24/01/10) and witnessed 9-10 bright orange lights leave the largs area and cross over to this side of the water(dunoon) and disappear behind the trees! i called my partner upstairs to ask him what it was and we came up with no answer, these strange lights were too slow to be a plane or helicopter and all followed the exact course! also these lights did not flash they were constant...anyone who has seen the same sightings feel free to e-mail me or if anyone knows what these lights are let me know.
