The Save Millport Pier campaign has accumulated 2970 paper signatures plus 6062 online signatures making a resounding total of 9032.
A few sheets still have to be collected so final total may be a little higher. The online petition at Change.org Save Millport Pier remains open if anyone still wants to sign. Many thanks to all the Millport shops / businesses who worked so hard in collecting signatures. Many thanks to to Margaret Kennedy in The George Hotel and Bobby and Marie Patterson for printing posters and petition sheets and to Ross and Steph Goldie and Sharon and Derek Hagan for all the banners.
Islander Mari Wallace said: "I will be writing to Elma Murray, Chief Executive about presenting the petition and hopefully attending the Audit and Scrutiny Committee on 14 November.
"Any updates will be sent to the Weekly News and posted on FB Save Millport Pier."
