North Ayrshire Council’s planning services team has been commended at the Scottish Awards for Quality, which took place on Wednesday 5 November.
The team celebrated success at their achievement in the ‘Delivering in Partnership’ category at the event, which has been running for over 15 years.
The awards are one of the Scottish Government’s most prestigious events and celebrate achievements in planning, from strategic visions to development on the ground.
The award submission highlighted the efficient partnership working between the council and a number of key partners, including Dawn Homes, Hypostyle Architects and Optimised Environments.
The pilot work in the submission was based on Japanese project management techniques where a project is developed collaboratively rather than in sequence.
Commenting on the achievement, Cabinet Member for Employment and Economy for North Ayrshire Council, Councillor Marie Burns, said: “This award highlights that North Ayrshire has a sector leading team that is committed to developing new, innovative approaches to the delivery of quality in planning across North Ayrshire.
“This collaborative approach has resulted in a residential layout that meets all of the different objectives of the design stakeholders involved. It has also saved time and money and can be replicated across other council planning projects. I would like to congratulate the team for their great efforts.”
