After a six month absence while harbour improvement work was completed, MV Argyle is back at Wemyss Bay as CalMac resumes normal service to Rothesay on Good Friday.
The Rothesay ferries tried out the refurbished pier on Sunday in preparation for the terminal re-opening on Friday. Ferry users heading to the Isle of Bute previously had to venture to Gourock while the reconstruction work was going on.
Work to the exterior of the terminal started on 1 October, and lasted 25 weeks.
This included removal and subsequent reinstatement of the vehicle linkspan, demolition, and re-construction of the existing 1970s load restricted pier roundhead, renewal of pier fendering, installation of corrosion protection to the pier and dredging to the west and south of the pier.
The work was carried out by the harbour owner, Caledonian Maritime Assets Limited
