Both Wemyss Bay and Skelmorlie are preparing for their gala weekends which are taking place later this month.

Wemyss Bay Community Association are pleased to be once again hosting our annual village gala on Saturday 11 June from 12 noon to 4pm at the community centre fields.

As well as a crowning of a king and queen, there will be plenty of activities including the Animal Petting Zoo and a bungee jump.

Other attractions include the bouncy castle, a mini fairground, balloon modelling and face painting.

There will also be a falconry display, as well as craft stalls, beat the keeper and guides tea room, as well as a licensed bar and beer garden.

In addition, entertainers from Wemyss Bay Holiday Park will be hosting the event which runs from 12noon – 4pm this year and Brass Sounds Inverclyde will be providing musical entertainment throughout the day.

As usual, the Association are looking for volunteers to help with various tasks on the day - set up in the morning, manning the bungee run for a short time during the event, and clearing up after the event. Remember... many hands make light work! Please contact Joseph at wbca@wemyssbay.net if you think you might be able to help at all.

Joseph added: "The Gala is always a great family day out and a great opportunity to meet other villagers or reunite with those who you haven't seen in a while! Please come down on Saturday 11 June and support our community!"

And following a week later, the Skelmorlie Gala on Saturday 18th June, starting at 11.45 with a fancy dress parade leaving from community centre car park, to the community centre where the new queen will officially open the gala day at 12 noon. It includes bouncy castles, fairground rides, live music, tea room and a beer tent, and continues until 5pm.
