Co-op have confirmed that they are ''actively looking' at Wemyss Bay as a candidate for one of their food stores.
Village correspondent Alison Masterson bemoaned the state of derelict buildings in the area this week, and rumours have spread that the Co-operative Food store, which opened in Largs two years ago, could be coming.
However, a spokesperson for the Co-op said: “The Co-op has a clear vision to be the number one convenience retailer in the UK and over the coming years our main focus will be to develop our convenience store estate. We are actively looking in Wemyss Bay and are aware of a number of sites in the area, but cannot comment on specific properties at this time."
