The Scottish Spina Bifida Association will be staging their annual golf day at the prestigious West Kilbride Golf Club on Thursday, 4th September.

This spectacular championship standard 18 hole golf course offers the perfect location for your special golfing day out.

This vital fundraising event for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association (SSBA) is also supported locally by Pearson’s dealership of Largs and Wemyss Bay, who will be supplying a brand new 1.2 five door Suzuki Swift worth almost £10,000 as the prize for ‘The Hole in One’ competition.

Ross Pearson, who manages the Largs dealership said: “We are delighted to support such an important Scottish charity, and have all been amazed at the lifelong support they offer for over 3,500 children, families and young adults throughout Scotland who have been diagnosed with spina bifida and or hydrocephalus, of which there is no cure.” Spina Bifida He continued: “We were shocked to learn that Scotland has the highest incidences of spina bifida/and or hydrocephalus in the UK, the most common birth defect in Europe, and that the charity only receives 1% funding from the Scottish Government. It’s astounding to think they have to raise £1 million every year to help all these Scottish families.” He added: “As a father of two healthy children, I can only imagine the trials and tribulations these families face every day. I would urge everyone to get a team together and take part in this fun fundraising event!” Clare Cogan Turner of the charity said: “We are seeking 20 teams to take part in the 18 hole tournament. There will also be an array of competitions, including the chance to win a car in the ‘Hole in One’, nearest the pin competition, longest drive and lots more.

“Soup and sandwich will be served on arrival at 12 noon, competitors will also have a delicious three-course dinner after the competition with a guest speaker, prize presentation, raffle and an auction too!” Reduced rates available for teams.
