The Scottish Spina Bifida Association’s annual Golf Day, staged at the West Kilbride Golf Club, raised £7,000 for the Charity, but no winners for the Suzuki Swift!

This vital fundraising event for the Scottish Spina Bifida Association (SSBA) was supported locally by Pearson’s dealership of Largs and Wemyss Bay, who offered a brand new 1.2 five door Suzuki Swift worth almost £10,000 as the prize for ‘The Hole in One’ competition.

Ross Pearson, who manages the Largs dealership said: “We were delighted to support such an important Scottish Charity and have all been amazed at the lifelong support they offer for over 3,500 children, families and young adults throughout Scotland who have been diagnosed with spina bifida and or hydrocephalus, of which there is no cure.” He continued: “We were shocked to learn that Scotland has the highest incidences of spina bifida/and or hydrocephalus in the UK, the most common birth defect in Europe, and that the Charity only receives 1% funding from the Scottish Government. It’s astounding to think they have to raise £1 million every year to help all these Scottish families.” Clare Cogan Turner, Assistant Director of Fundraising for the SSBA, said: “We want to say a huge thank you to all those that took part and special thanks to The West Kilbride Golf Club for a spectacular day of golf and Pearson’s of Largs who offered players the chance to win a car in the ‘Hole in One’ competition.” She added: “If you would like further information on the Charity, the support we offer or the events we hold, please log onto www.ssba.org.uk”
