Largs Thistle 3 Winton Rovers 1
Thistle kicked off the season with a confident swagger as they unravelled a stuffy Winton Rovers side with some slick passing and classy goals, but had to overcome a late scare.
Largs had good possession in the first half, but were unable to break down a stuffy Ardrossan side, and the visitors were reduced to ten men after an off the ball challenge by McKenna near the end of the first half.
It had all the elements of a local derby match with plenty of familiar faces on both sides.
Largs had clattered the ball off the woodwork three times, and had a healthy two goal lead thanks to a bold Graham Muir header, and Laurie McMaster's cute finish, but Winton scored a spectacular free kick near the end thanks to Regan Ross to half the deficit.
Largs restored their two goal advantage during stoppage time as Joel Kasubandi's quick footed run and cross was met by McMaster for his second of the game.
