Yoker 1 Largs Thistle 4 Don’t let the scoreline fool you!

This was a well earned victory for Largs who had to really graft to win by such a convincing scoreline, but it was not an easy win by any matter of means.

And it was the re-born James Marks, who was taken off the transfer list just over a week ago, who came up with the goods with two super goals, as he leapt in the air and kissed the Thistle badge to the adoring fans.

Stand-in captain Graham Muir also benefitted with a brilliant brace, but Yoker battled throughout and Largs keeper Grant Weir had to make three incredible saves to keep the home side at bay.

It was a strong second half showing to overcome a Yoker side who took the lead in a fast flowing encounter at Holm Park.

This was a battling display from Thistle who grew in confidence as the game went on while Yoker certainly caused Largs bother, but were foiled by some great defending and goalkeeping from Grant Weir.

It was definitely Thistle’s best performance in the league and lifts them to 10th in the Stagecoach First Division. Momentum is building, and hopefully there is much more to come from Thistle’s exciting young bucks who have a point to prove after a tough start in the most unforgiving of leagues.

Largs: Weir, Fisher, Gilbride, Jamieson, McDonald, Marks, Keogh, Frizzell, Muir (c), Lawrence. Subs: McClure, McNicol, Thomson, McLaughlin.
