The Ladies 2nd team managed to catch-up on all their postponed tennis matches and finish their fixtures on time.

With three called off due to the bad weather it was quite a headache to get them rescheduled.

Fiona Page (Capt), Mary Lunday, Linda Cowden, Vivien Bruce, Janie McKenzie and Chris Reekie played Kilmarnock 2 at home and had a comfortable 7-2 win. The same team took on Coylton 3, again at Largs, and had a comprehensive 9-0 victory.

The same team played Ayr 2 twice in the same week. At Largs on the Monday, the local girls lost 6-3 to a strong Ayr side who are unbeaten in Division 3 this season and will be promoted to Division 2.They travelled to Ayr on Wednesday and lost by the same margin. Fiona Page and Mary Lunday were successful at first couple on both occasions.

The 2nd team played Prestwick 3 at home on Monday June 13th. There was one change to the team with Anne Page playing at second couple with Vivien Bruce. The evening proved to be ideal for tennis in spite of a poor forecast. Luckily that proved to be wrong. Having lost indoors to Prestwick 3 at Prestwick the local girls were determined to turn the tables on their opponents. Largs had a good 6-3 win.

They played their final match of the season at Troon. It was a hard-fought match but Troon emerged the winners. With five victories under their belt the team are comfortably in the middle of the league table. The team had a good pool of players to call on this season. In addition to the above seven players Claire Byers, Alison Bruce and Anne Moiser played for the team.

* Knock-out and mixed competition ... The Ayrshire Mixed competition will be played in August. Largs has two teams entered. The draw was made last week and the Largs teams will play the two Ayr tennis club teams on Wednesday 3 August. Largs 1 are home to Ayr 2 while Largs 2 travel south to play Ayr 1. Ayr 1 were last year's runners-up so it will be a hard match for Largs. Teams consist of three couples. Matches start at 6.30pm and matches are the best of three sets.
