Largs Thistle 1 Shettleston 0

Thistle won their second league match in a row by a solitary goal as they had to battle for the victory which was deserved in the end, although the penalty decision was vehemently contested by the opposition.

Largs were without talisman striker Scott Adam, as Alex McWaters partnered Jamie Campbell upfront.
And it was McWaters who tucked an early effort just over the bar, before Campbell’s deflected free kick was saved.
Thistle had most of the early running with Muir prodding wide from 12 yards after a good opening.
A dangerous run from Kisuka culminated in a powerful angled strike which was firmly blocked by the Thistle defence.
Alan Gilbride was at full stretch as he just missed contact from a curling corner from the left before half-time.
Graham Muir’s searching cross found McWaters in a good position to the left post, but he headed the ball into the ground, and the chance was gone.
Largs won their penalty on 70 minutes as winger Martin Orr crumpled under a challenge as he raced into the box, but the decision riled the Shettleston management, and the spot-kick was delayed for a few minutes. McWaters retained his composure to confidently strike the ball home.
Gary Fleming’s stinging half volley from the edge of the box had to be beaten away by the visiting keeper on 73 minutes. Kisuka’s late piledriver was palmed away by Ross Lundy late on much to Thistle’s relief.
