Largs manager Sandy MacLean praised his side's performance after losing 1-0 at Meadow Park.
A first half Sean Fraser strike was enough to separate the sides on a day of drama as both Thistle's relegation rivals Pollok and Kilbirnie collected victories.
Manager MacLean said: "My Largs players were outstanding on the day. Well done to Irvine Meadow for taking the points, but to pin such a good team back for long periods speaks volumes for the future." Kevin Struthers hit the post in the second half for Thistle as they dominated play but Fraser also missed a penalty kick to put the home side in command.
