Largs skipper Kevin Struthers is itching to get started against Kilsyth after a two week lay-off.

The club are determined to make amends for their surprise Scottish Cup exit, and it is a 1.45pm kick-off at Barrfields Park, against a side, who have been a thorn in the flesh to Thistle throughout 2014.

Struthers, who is set to make his 100th club appearance this Saturday, has called on the supporters to rally round the young side, and said: “All the boys have been eager to get the Johnstone game out of our system. That has been the problem with all the call-offs we have had lately, but we are determined to go out against Kilsyth and put on a good show for supporters.

“I love the club dearly - if you were to turn round to me and ask me to sign a five year deal with Thistle tomorrow, I would do it! We have had some real highs and lows this season - beating Hurlford in the Ardagh Glass Cup was great in August. Given we have so many new faces, and young lads in the team, it was very encouraging and shows what we are capable of. The Johnstone Burgh defeat was hard for everyone to take, but I have told the youngsters that every game you play is an experience. It is important to learn from these bad experiences, as they drive you on in future.

The 28 year old forward added: “It is important to remember that some of our younger players are in their first, or second season, in juniors, and this is a very tough league, so it is important to get behind the team. They are a great squad of guys, and the dressing room spirit is excellent.”
