Let battle commence!

Not just a famous footnote in Scottish history but the turning of the tide of the Viking invasion of the United Kingdom, Largs once again celebrates arguably its finest hour with the oncoming international festival which celebrates our cultural links between Largs and Norway.

The official 31st Largs Viking Festival is a veritable feast of wonderful entertainment from another exhilirating aeronautics display to the Party at the Pencil, while favourites including the Continental Market and a new addition of an Italian food market are bound to whet some appetites!

It is only fitting that we have a true international element to kick off proceedings with Eric Arnaud, from Largs twin town of Andernos-Les-Bain, will be opening the festival on Saturday. A delegation of French visitors from Andernos are making the journey to Largs to take in all the fun of the festival.

The Viking Festival parade is leaving Morrisons at 2pm on Saturday August 27, with the opening ceremony taking place at Largs Esplanade at 2.30pm. The parade includes Fierce Dance Squad - a newly formed professional dance squad. performing dynamic choreography, cheerleading stunts, and gymnastic tumbles - they will also be hosting a children's workshop on the esplanade. Scotia Gold Wings will also be bringing their motorbikes to the town for the big opening.
