Largs man George Forbes is hosting an art exhibition and sale at Largs Library on Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
George, 76, studied at Glasgow School of Art but is mainly self-taught. Since 1982, having resigned his employment as a sales manager with a national food company, he took up full time work visiting schools throughout the UK, preseneting illustrated bible talks at school assemblies, as well as at many other venues.
Today, because of health problems, he spends time producing paintings, mainly landscape to be sold to aid orphaned children in Africa. The paints are also available as limited edition prints, Various cards can also be purchased.
All profits go to ShareAfrica - a UK registered charity working in Zambia, meaning that orphaned children have their school fees and meals paid for.
There will be a range of oil, acrylic, watercolour, pastel paintings, as well as fine art ‘Get Well Soon’, ‘Thank you’ and letter cards.
George, who lives in Glen Avenue, said: “I have been involved in children’s charity work for the last 45 years, and I am greatly looking forward to this weekend’s art exhibition and sale.”
